I recently finished reading The Dreamer and was blown away by the descriptive language and the main character’s journey filled with emotional turmoil and growth. Political unrest and social injustices threatened this boy’s innocence who grew to stand up for the rights of others through his own poetic and literary work. Pam Muñoz Ryan captured a dreamer’s imagination through this narrative which also contained vivid poetic brilliance!
Make it a point to read a book on this years award list. Latinos/as are arduously working on quality multicultural children’s literature and becoming favorable contenders in the literary competition rink! Take a trip to your local library to check one of these out or request what you can’t find. Make your support and presence known.
